The Church Street Partnership (the joint venture between Westminster City Council and Mount Anvil) has been further developing the designs for Site A ready for construction.
Following engagement with residents, stakeholders, and local businesses, the Partnership has now submitted plans containing minor updates to the local planning authority (LPA). This update is what's known as a 'Non-Material Amendment': meaning simply that the changes are minor and don’t significantly change the already approved designs. While the changes are minor, there are positive benefits including social rent and an increase in 3 bed family-size homes and we’ll still be able to get onto site to deliver new homes as quickly as possible. The NMA, if approved, will increase the number of homes and reduce the scheme's carbon footprint (environmental impact).
This is another crucial step in turning the plan for 430 new homes, a new Library and improved facilities for market traders into a reality.
If approved, the new scheme will:
The Partnership will continue engaging with residents, stakeholders, and businesses on Site A, including the layout and fit-out of the new Library and on the demolition process. Demolition of the buildings currently on-Site A will start later this year.
Talking about the submission of the NMA, Cllr Noble said:
“The Church Street community desperately needs the new homes, Library, and improved market facilities that Site A will bring. I am delighted that the scheme is progressing with the Church Street Partnership. The hard work the community and the Partnership have invested in this scheme is starting to bear fruit.”
Killian Hurley, Chairman at Mount Anvil added:
“We’re laser-focused on delivering much-needed quality, affordable housing on Church Street. This important milestone is one of many steps we’re taking together with our partners, Westminster City Council. We've already learnt plenty from listening to the local community – and we’ll continue to work collaboratively to deliver a positive impact in the Borough”
We expect the planning authority to decide on the application in the next four weeks.
