Earlier in May, the Church Street Partnership, a joint venture between Westminster City Council and Mount Anvil, held an exhibition to update residents, local businesses and stakeholders on the progress it has made in developing the design for Site A. This newsletter summarises this progress and explains how residents can find out more.
The Church Street Partnership is focused on delivering Site A. To do this, we have been developing the design that will bring several benefits. These include:
These benefits have been achieved by removing the basement under Block A1 and moving what was contained in the basement up into the residential garden area of the block. The residential garden is then moved up onto a podium level where it can be accessed by all residents of the new homes.
There will be a slight alteration to the new library – which will see a small increase in area from the consented scheme. Level access from Church Street and clear sight lines to the garden are kept. There is a small increase in level from the new library to its garden, which will be designed to be accessible to everyone. We have been talking to the Friends of Church Street Library group and the Council’s Library Service about the internal layout of the library. We will work with them on the internal layout in the future.
The Partnership will shortly seek the necessary approvals and demolition will start in the summer. We will be back in touch to give you more details on how it will be carried out.
