The rain disappeared, and the sun came out for Church Street’s annual Christmas Light switch-on. This year’s event was focused on community crafting, with residents making gift bags, baubles and Christmas cards. Hot chocolate and festive treats were served from the newly opened Haven Café.
Music came from an acoustic band and traditional Christmas carols from the South Westminster Choir. Cllr Hamza switched on the lights with help from the crowd to officially start the festive season.
We would like to thank our community partners who took part in the event
We would also like to thank our residents who helped make this year’s event a big success and full of festive fun.
Residents, stakeholders and guests enjoyed an evening to celebrate the launch of Triangle Studios and the newly opened Haven Café hosted by Arbeit Studios, (the operator of Triangle Studios). Guests were treated to a tour of the studio spaces and the café. We heard from some tenants who have launched their businesses right in the heart of Church Street. Artist, Emma Belu, showcased her photography exhibition, Face Forward, capturing the ‘faces’ of the residents of Church Street.
Nimrod Vardi, Co-founder and Director of Arbeit, said:
“We are genuinely excited to launch the Triangle spaces, offering new workspaces, an
art gallery, community spaces and a café at the heart of Westminster. The Triangle project creates new facilities explicitly dedicated to the diverse community of Church Street and the local area. During the period leading up to the site’s launch, we worked with the residents and business community, understanding the community’s needs and tailoring the spaces and our services to accommodate everyone. We look forward to working on-site and welcome everyone’s ideas, comments and involvement.”

On Wednesday 13 November, as part of our continued engagement with local schools about Site A demolition, we attended our third coffee morning with King Solomon Academy.
It was great to engage with so many parents and hear their thoughts and concerns and give them an opportunity to get to know us and our Joint Venture partner Mount Anvil.
We will be attending future coffee mornings at all the schools we have visited throughout next year as Site A demolition
continues and the project evolves.
Ingrebourne House is currently being demolished. Crushing operations and the soft strip will continue until Keltbray break for Christmas.
The demolition will finish on 20 December and resume on 6 January. During this time, there will be 24-hour security. If you have any concerns, you can call 07436 149 067 24 hours a day.

Over the past few months, Mount Anvil has got involved with several initiatives within the local community, including
working with the PDT Community Health and Wellbeing Workers and other local Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
The PDT Community Health and Wellbeing Workers have been hosting coffee mornings once a month for local residents, with Mount Anvil and Westminster team members joining. These coffee mornings are a great way to get
together and connect over coffee and pastries, as well as being able to get a free health check.
One local resident said:
“I really enjoyed the coffee morning. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. I’ll definitely spread the word to my neighbours and come to the next one!”
The next Community Health & Wellbeing Coffee Morning will take place on: Friday 20 December. Don’t miss this
opportunity to join your community for a warm cup of coffee and catch up.
Working with local Businesses
With the demolition of Site A underway, Mount Anvil recently connected with 35 local businesses during a procurement day at City Hall. As a London-focused business, it was a great opportunity for the team to meet with local
suppliers as part of their commitment to engage with and work with local employers who can provide services to our regeneration projects.
The team engaged with businesses across diverse sectors, including cleaning, interior design, security and IT services. It was a fantastic opportunity to share updates on Church Street development, explore potential partnerships, and have meaningful conversations with the community.
We are pleased to announce that we now have three new public toilets on Church Street. These have opened in the old toilet block on Church Street, which is also home to the Haven Café.
Opening hours for these toilets are from 9am to 6pm. During these hours, access is via a passcode, which is available from the café. As these toilets are for the public, you don’t need to buy anything from the café to get the passcode.
These toilets are for everyone to use; please help us keep them clean and safe.
Please let us know if you see anything or feel the toilets need to be used correctly.
